Set within a 3-acre forested land in Karjat, Arthbound is a yoga retreat and private residence that blends seamlessly into its natural surroundings. Designed to preserve the contours, trees, and natural water flows, the built structures feel more discovered than placed—tucked away within the terrain, offering moments of stillness, privacy, and immersive connection with nature.
The journey begins at the lowest point of the site, where a farm-lawn welcomes visitors. A winding path ascends gently through the forest. To one side, the client’s private residence unfolds across multiple levels—following the slope of the land and one of the site’s natural streams. With stone and mud walls, clay tile roofs, and open views into the woods, the home is rooted, quiet, and alive with its surroundings.
At the heart of the property sits the yoga space—a vaulted brick pavilion nestled among tall trees and boulders. Designed to evoke presence and calm, it stands as the spiritual centre of Arthbound. Beneath it, natural rock formations create quiet places for individual practice.
Further uphill, a cluster of guest cottages offer premium, secluded stays. Each cottage is carefully oriented—some looking out to sunsets over the mountains, others cantilevered above streams, allowing guests to sleep with the sound of flowing water beneath them.
Built on metal frames, the structures allow the forest floor to thrive untouched. Materials like mud bricks, stone, and aging clay tiles ensure the architecture merges into the forest over time, becoming part of the land’s palette rather than interrupting it.
Arthbound isn’t just a destination—it’s a way of living. Guests come to slow down, move mindfully, eat consciously, and reconnect with themselves and the land. Whether it’s a quiet retreat or a regular ritual, the space invites return.
