At Dhool Design Studio we believe the narrative of each design progress starts with Dhool (Dust) and ends with its abandonment; turning the design into nothing but dhool (Dust). The identity of the people, their activities, and the spaces associated with it are often forgotten. Dhool stands for this co-existence of the permanence and temperament of every entity in the journey of life. A reminder to use natural resources as a way to give the depleted resources back to nature. A trajectory for a more ecological future. After all, in the end, the universe is nothing more than a collection of dust.
PEOPLE
We are priveleged to boast a small and closely knit team of talented, efficient and dedicated designers for every project. Our studio works seamlessly with other collaborative teams to ensure a diverse skill set is readily available to meet the unique demands of various projects.
HOW WE WORK
We strongly emphasize on cultivating creative thinking rooted in thorough research and experimentation. Our approach involves a meticulous examination of the historical context, neighbouring buildings – including their construction materiality and methodology - street pattern, urban configuration, and the cultural and social milieu. This process challenges conventional norms and inspires the creation of original designs.
Our methodology includes overlaying the specific requirement of each project with the clues within the surroundings to inform the introduction of a new building. This results in structures that are finely tuned to their intended use integrated into the surroundings with meticulous care.
These connections can happen on various levels, ranging from the broader cityscape to intricate construction details. Whether direct or abstract, ultimately our goal is to facilitate a fresh interpretation of the structure in relation to its site, enriching the overall context through thoughtful design considerations.
Narrative
Storytelling plays an important part in our design process. We compile stories of the users, context, objects and their memories in traces of history to translate their narrative into the design of space, the structure and construction. We achieve this through interrogation, documentation, research and study.
Mapping
We reconstruct the compiled information in the form of drawings and maps of varying levels of detail. to techniques. This forms the foundation of our design methodology to create unique designs.
Ideation
On the basis of the mapping of the narrative, we develop designs. Ideas are given forms, colours and textures on the drawing board, adding life to the design. This is where the design is being born.
Drawing
As per the ideas and visualization generated, we generate concise and coordinated graphic representation of what is to be built, indicating products, components and details.
Execution
Finally, the most exciting of them all, we absolutely LOVE watching all of our collaborative dreams and ideas turn into reality. There is deep emphasis within our designs on generating moods and quality of spaces that are shaped by materials, light as well as the bold lines we create within our architecture and interiors.
