MORCHAIC
Location: Lodha Dioro, Wadala, Mumbai
Morchaic is inspired from the ancient Arab world, a time capsule with hints of contemporary. The colours of the interior reflect this grandeur picked from the ornamentation of mosques and the extensive use of decorative elements and cool colours. The brief was simple. The young couple wanted a simplistic 2 bedroom home that is functional and easy to maintain.
The brief took the form of accented walls, subtle shades and functional forms combined with ornamental touches in wall, lighting and hardware. Colours play an important role in defining the experience of this house.
In the passageway and the living area, the original sand toned marble cloaks the floor. A rattan perforated wooden shoe cupboard stands sentinel in one corner.
The living area is dressed in cool green of the walls and metal, and the warmth brought in by the wooden console and dining table. The wall playing host to the television is the true tour de force. Reminiscent of the albuquerque brick layout of the middle east, the fluted teakwood television console latches into the wall, holding shelves to make way for the beautiful memories, as if floating in the air, embellished with antiquarian handles.
The dining area nods to the wooden and green palette of the living area. A refurbished dining set lends a life-like quality to the space along with the sofa providing a cheery counterbalance to the greenwall and fluted console. The wooden and cane weave furniture lend warmth to the inviting space.
